Thanks for stopping by! My name is Melissa Judd and I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist for the past 7 years. I have enjoyed working in school, private, and home based settings. I now run my own private practice and specialize in working with preschool-ages children. Before becoming an SLP I worked as a Developmental Specialist, doing home-based therapy for infants and toddlers with special needs. During that time I decided to further my education and narrow the areas of development I targeted as a therapist. So after 3 more years and 2 more degrees, I finally reached my goal.
I have a B.S. in Child Development and an Applied Associate Degree in Professional Preschool Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho. In addition, I received a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Idaho State University. I have worked with young children in a variety of settings for the past 17 years, including volunteer work in Ufa, Russia where I taught preschool aged children English. Working with young children with special needs is truly a passion of mine.
When I am not planning therapy sessions, you'll fine me playing babies and dress-up with my spunky daughter or chasing my son, who always seems to be on the run! My husband and I have been married for 7 years now. In the time that we have known each other we have lived in a different state almost every year we've been together. Moving across the country and back was one of the funnest adventures we have had together so far. I enjoy baking, knitting, reading, camping, and DIYing in my spare, spare time.
I decided to start this blog not only as a resource for the parents of the students I worked with while working in the schools, but also as a place where others can hopefully get useful information about speech and language development as well as fun, engaging activities to facilitate
with all areas of a child's ever growing development.
